I think the Sound Of Music excerpt at the start was Cam Rogers’ idea initially – I ripped off the same moment as part of the incredibly haphazard ‘book’ for A Largely Fanciful History Of The Spiegeltent – and then it seemed like a challenge: what was the Nazis’ theme music while they were hooning around trying to catch Julie Andrews? Surprisingly ’70s, really. The organ is actually being pumped through Justin’s guitar amp and miked, which is kind of unusual for a Drowsy recording in that it’s a slightly less lazy way of doing things than just pluggin’ it straight in. Don’t know what I was thinking, but I’m sure I slept late the next day if that’s any consolation.
