{mosimage}Despite hopes that a last-minute effort by the Drowsy Drivers‘
lawyers could break them free from their contractual obligations to the
Store Room, the band will reluctantly return for 3 more "Northcote
Country Soul" shows in May.
"It’s criminal," said drummer Kevin McFerran at a news conference
halfway up the Arts Centre spire yesterday, "but it appears that
there’s nothing we can do about it. Those greedy scum-sucking maggots
have got us over a barrel."
Bassist Cameron Rogers was no less disheartened. "We always
thought those Store Room guys were nice, decent, upstanding citizens,"
he boomed from his vantage point at the top of the spire, "but now we
want the whole world to know how cruel and heartless they really are."
"Northcote Country Soul" will be staged at 10:00 p.m. on
Saturday May 11th, Friday May 17th and Saturday May 18th, at the Store
Room – a venue often dubbed "the Shabby Fire Trap". Tickets are $15
full/$12 concession.
Contacted for their comments, Store Room proprietors Ben Harkin and Todd MacDonald cackled maniacally and responded with a statement written in thick red texta: "They are our piggies now. Our little piggies. Piggies, piggies, all for us. No rest for the piggies. Work, piggies, work." -[]
